I don’t know about you, but I always think of summer when The Thrills either turn up on the radio or on my cd/mp3 player – and yes, good people, even in October! Must be that west coast thing running through my veins as Americana seems to be all over the place these days.

It’s a Friday night and I’ve received an invite to go down to Verve bar in Leeds and catch a couple of bands who have come up from London and Norwich as part of a countrywide tour they are on. As I’d never seen either band before and heard of Thee Unstrung (a band of which 3 members of 1984 formerly belonged to) I thought I’d head down.

We now travel back through time to the end of the 1970’s and to Burnley. Danbert was in a local band called Chimp Eats Bananas. I ask him about this band and their subsequent anniversary gig in August 2005 (A snippet is currently doing the rounds on YouTube).
